Workshop Description


Love Tim Burton’s claymation? Wrote a song that needs a music video? Learn the basics of filmmaking in this class where participants digitally edit a series of photographs to create the illusion of movement; explore camera angles; and express themselves by creating visual narratives using the modern medium. All participants are given the tools needed to complete a short film.


Tools: Nikon Digital SLR cameras, Panasonic DV camera, iMovie software.

This class is available for students 10+ as well as adults through our Classes on Demand Program, which allows you to arrange the class you want on your terms. It’s as easy as finding at least two friends or family members to join you and then proposing a class time to the instructor.

About the Instructor


Rachel Ephraim earned an undergraduate degree in film production, screenwriting, and creative writing at Boston University. While living in Boston, she worked on the PBS children’s show, “Zoom,” a program written by and for kids. When she moved to New York, she got her start at Silver Cup Studios, working for ABC on the J.J. Abram’s show, “Six Degree’s.” She then moved on to become a casting assistant for cult-favorite writer and director, Todd Solondz, working exclusively on his upcoming film, “Life During Wartime,” a sequel to the indie hit, “Happiness.” Currently, Rachel teaches creative writing at Writopia Lab, a non-profit workshop for kids 9-19. She also makes music videos for local, Brooklyn bands. She has written, directed, produced, and edited various independent shorts throughout her career.
